Solve Bytesize Learning's model and what direction the client wants to move forward.


Bring to life a platform that engages learners through short form content, games, trivia, and add a motivational dashboard. 

Goal of Research:

How might we, create a kid-friendly platform that provides children with real-world tech skills while reassuring parents that their children are being taught by knowledgeable instructors?


ByteSize Learning

ByteSize Learning is currently a live platform that offers live one on one technology classes to youth ages 8-18 yrs old. Their current goal is to take their synchronous model and go asynchronous with more project based classes.

We were tasked with three objectives in mind:

  1. Ideate and design an engaging, learner-friendly yet personalized asynchronous learning platform.

  2. Identify who the target audience was and what their needs are.

  3. Find out how much users were willing to pay for this service.


User Research

We started conducting 20 user interviews within 2 days and we focused on Parents who had children between the ages of 8-18 yrs old who enjoy doing online learning. We also were able to interview children, which was a challenge in itself, we called them “learners” in this study. 

Personalized learning is crucial for students of all ages, with flexibility in pacing and scheduling being particularly important.

Social interaction is a significant factor in successful learning experiences, particularly for younger students.

The quality and background of teachers/tutors are essential to the success of online learning experiences.

Reviews and recommendations from other parents/students can play a significant role in the decision-making process for choosing online learning programs.

Through out interviews, we were able to ask questions that focus on feature prioritization for our final product. We uncovered valuable insights and takeaways that informed our decisions on the design and development of ByteSize's new educational website.
Parent's Insights


I need to have a flexible learning program that works around my child’s schedule and learning pace.

We conducted 2 rounds of paper sketches to see how we all envisioned the learning platform will visually look, flow, and fit the target audience's needs.

Combining all of our designs, we were able to construct Mid Fi frames in Figma and did our first round of testing with 20 different users.

From our user testing, we received feedback that helped us come up with a color scheme, flow, and navigation that not only fit the Client's needs but both audiences.


Once we decided on a design, our team built the architecture and interactivity of our platform. We created wireframes to communicate our concept and intent and thought deeply about the functionality of each feature as our persona might interact with and through the platform. Our mid fi wireframes have limited visual design, no color, no images, and basic functionality. Our annotated wireframes also inform the intentionality of each feature we decided to include in our design, communicating the reasoning behind our design based on our research findings.

Mid Fi Frames

Task 1: Find out more about ByteSize and create an account
We tasked both the Parents and Learners in our user testing to "find out more about ByteSize Learning and create and account." From our interviews and research we found both Parents and Students first want to learn more about if a company fits their needs and matches their learning preferences before moving forward. They usually can discover this by going to the About page on a website and reading the other users reviews and company values/mission. We have created that navigation for both Parents and Learners to achieve successfully.

Hi Fi Prototype

Through all of our company and user research we were able to successfully fulfill our clients needs. We created a co parent learner website that was user friendly for both audiences. The added features and design of ByteSize's website will help our client gain more users with an asynchronous model and keep them engaged with our added account page. Parents can access both theirs and their child's account to keep track of their child's progress and the learner is able to connect with other learners, challenges themselves through games and trivia and share their projects online with other communities.
